Mad Catz respawns, gets back in the game

Mad Catz rises from the ashes of 2017 and returns in 2018 with all new PC gaming gear to show off at CES 2018.

In case you missed it, a little less than a year ago Mad Catz—a company that has made gaming controllers and accessories for nearly 30 years—basically burned down, fell over, and then sank into the swamp.

But now they’re back. Less than a year after disappearing from the gaming landscape, Mad Catz has managed to rebuild itself under new management—and they’re ready to launch an all-new, streamlined suite of PC gaming products (under familiar, period-abusing names).

The new, leaner, and more focused Mad Catz promises to deliver high-quality products without abandoning their innovative roots. At CES 2018, they will be previewing the first PC gaming products in their new lineup.

R.A.T. AIR

This all-new new version of Mad Catz’s iconic, fully-adjustable gaming mouse now features a cutting-edge wireless charging system that draws power via the wireless activation gaming surface (included).  If you to use your own gaming surface, the R.A.T. AIRalso includes a USB cable so you can use the R.A.T. as a wired mouse.

S.T.R.I.K.E.Mechanical Gaming keyboard

The S.T.R.I.K.E.4 gaming keyboard features a fully mechanical key bed, aluminum frame, and RGB lighting. More details (switch type, software-related features, etc.) will be released later. Based on the picture alone the S.T.R.I.K.E.4 looks like it will be a fairly standard (if reserved) mechanical keyboard.

The F.R.E.Q.4 features a metal-plated frame, suspension headband design, and 40mm neodymium drivers. More details of new products in the range will be likely be announced at CES.

Based solely on the provided image, the F.R.E.Q.4 looks like it may also provide some lighting effects and a retractable, flexible microphone.

Mad Catz Global Limited will be demonstrating new products in the range through invitation only at CES 2018, taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada from January 9th through 12th, 2018.

I can’t help but notice the new STRIKE and FREQ headsets have a “4” in their names. Maybe it signifies the “4th one” relative to the Monty Python reference I made in the beginning of the article? 🙂
